A sample of current projects, activities and improvements funded in part by Hollywood Neighborhood Charities

Mansfield Community Garden
Shade trees, benches and fencing will beautify this neighborhood park on the southwest corner of Fountain and Mansfield Avenues. See photos of the garden

DeLongpre Park
HNC is contributing to the purchase and installation of security cameras, fencing and a playground. This project is being completed in collaboration with Prop-K specified funding, the Central Hollywood Neighborhood Council and the Hollywood Arts Council. Estimated completion is mid 2007.

Noguera Educational Community Garden
Just seven years ago, the corner of Fountain and June Streets was a blighted, empty lot. Today it is a thriving, attractive garden – complete with outdoor kitchen, evening lighting and community pavilion – where Hollywood students can get hands-on experience in subjects ranging from plant species, the environment and weather to organic gardening and solar energy. Programs include daily classes, after-school programs and community workshops. (See photos of the garden)
Recently, a state-of-the-art weather station was installed in the garden, enabling students to learn how weather affects plant growth, soil conditions and the environment.

Hollywood Recreation Center
Baseball uniforms for team members have made the game a lot more fun! HNC has funded these uniforms for the past two years. In addition, HNC will be spearheading additions of a new heater, deck and fencing for the park’s pool area. Estimated completion is the end of 2007.

Toy Drives
For the past 18 years, HNC has collaborated with the Central Hollywood Neighborhood Council, L.A. Police Department and Hollywood Rotary Club to donate toys for needy children during the holiday season.

Educate, Eradicate and Enforce (EEE) Program
This three-part program is designed to:
Educate Hollywood residents on the wide range of services available to them through local and government organizations
Eradicate unsightly aspects of the neighborhood (graffiti, discarded bulky items, broken sidewalks)
Enforce for a cleaner, safer community via cameras, an active community and police team, and quarterly Town Hall meetings.

Early in 2007, EEE will sponsor Emergency Preparedness Classes in collaboration with the Hollywood Fire Department.
